1540

Conquistador Coronado of Spain arrives in Hawikku, one of the fabled Seven Cities of Gold. Hawikku is an ancestral village of present-day Zuni. Take a moment to stop by the A:shiwi A:wan Museum to see the Hawikku exhibit.

The conquistadors of Spain paused to carve their names in the sandstone at El Morro National Monument. The Spaniards brought with them the Catholic priests who set up missions throughout New Mexico.
